  From Gratitude to Worship: The One Leper Who Returned to Jesus Scripture Reading: Luke 17:11–19 Faith & Code — Reflections on Scripture and Software When Nine Receive the Gift but One Returns to the Giver Ten men stood at a distance from Jesus. They were suffering from a terrible disease that had separated them from their families, their communities, and ordinary life. They could not approach Jesus as other people did. Instead, they raised their voices and cried out: "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" (Luke 17:13) Jesus heard them. He told them to go and show themselves to the priests, and as they went, they were cleansed. Imagine what that moment must have meant. Men who had lived as outcasts could now look forward to returning home. They could see their families again, resume their work, and participate in ordinary community life.
